Broadcast Solutions at IBC Show 2024

Broadcast Solutions is keen to show its systems integration portfolio and product developments at this year's IBC show from 13-16 September 2024. You will find us at two stands at 0.A23 and 10.C43.

Like in past IBC shows, Broadcast Solutions runs IBC's largest outdoor stand (0.A23), which serves as the home base for the company, where we show the full range of our systems integration portfolio. The company has two OB vans on display, reflecting the Group's wide variety of OB van developments.

Mobile Production Tools

On show outside is a PaaM – Production as a Module – unit, one of four identical trucks built for Swiss broadcaster SRG. This powerful and flexible broadcast unit is an excellent demonstration of the way that Broadcast Solutions combines standardised building blocks with the ability to tailor details to the user’s requirements.

Alongside it will be a mobile radio studio, built for LRT the Lithuanian public broadcaster. This innovative vehicle incorporates both a studio – with a glass wall for public viewing – and a control room equipped with a 64 channel eMotion digital mixer. For visualised radio broadcasts there is also a five-camera video streaming system. The studio van is accompanied by a support vehicle which includes both a diesel generator and solar panels to provide power on site.

Broadcast Solutions will also showcase its unique Streamline concept, a range of outside broadcast designs from compact four-camera units to very large, expandable trailer designs. The concept is built on standardised modules which incorporate a great deal of flexibility, giving users free rein to select their preferred switchers, cameras, replays, graphics and more, while greatly speeding the technical and physical design. Broadcast Solutions has already delivered more than 50 units based on these standard concepts, fully tailored to each users’ needs.

Fixed Facilities

Apart from being one of Europe's most successful OB Truck production companies, Broadcast Solutions excels in planning, designing, and implementing the most complex studios, news studios, remote production hubs, or VAR facilities.

DYN Remote Production Facilities, Munich and Cologne, Germany

Broadcast Solutions, in collaboration with leading broadcast facilities provider NEP Germany, has designed and implemented a complex and innovative remote production environment for the new sports network Dyn Media. NEP Germany will operate it as a managed service for Dyn.

The coverage relies primarily on remote production. Six units, which we call venue kits, are part of the facilities. Each has a core rack in a flight case with three stage boxes connected over fibre.

All signals are routed to NEP Germany’s headquarters in Munich, where Broadcast Solutions has built two large control rooms, a central equipment room, and a network operation centre (NOC) handling the central management of signal transmission from all arenas, to and from Cologne, as well as to the cloud and OTT platforms.

The NOC allows flexible allocation of venue kits to the production control rooms in Cologne and Munich. Dyn Media is based in Cologne, and NEP Germany and Broadcast Solutions have also designed and built one large gallery and three small control rooms in its headquarters, plus the associated audio facilities. These share the hardware installed in Munich, so Dyn is free to place its editorial team in either city and have exactly the same functionality while controlling capital costs and minimising energy consumption.

hi human interface

hi human interface is the first real intuitive control software for broadcasting and media technology. It serves as the perfect man-machine link, an assistant, that leads users to the before complex process of workflow design and signal management in broadcast and media installations. We show hi human interface with a dedicated stand in hall 10.C43.  hi human interface is a vendor-independent system that integrates easily with many different devices. Handling the system is easy with a device-agnostic GUI (with ease and touch-functionalities all users know from day-to-day mobile devices) or hardware panels that offer access to all relevant parameters and details of devices and complete infrastructure. With thought-through functionalities and "if-this-then-that" logics, it guides the users through the entire process and advises on the best way to develop workflows and trigger actions. The benefits are clear; in intuitive mode and stripped down to their essentials, extensive and complex systems can be learned and operated more quickly. And clear visualization on the user interface keeps the users in control with a clear overview of proceedings at all times.

meshTECH

With meshLINK, Broadcast Solutions takes high-quality wireless video transmission to the next level: Providing state-of-the-art video encoding, full-duplex IP, and Mesh networking as a truly rugged and straightforward system. meshLINK represents the latest developments in RF technology on the one hand and breakthroughs in ultra-low latency UHD HEVC encoding on the other, now combined in one product. This is a true duplex IP-based wireless system allowing a wide range of functions during live broadcasts, like RCP and telemetry integration. You can see meshLINK and the management tool meshSOFT at the outdoor stand 0.A23.

Example Features:

  • Super-low latency (down to 45 ms in HD and 75 ms in 4K)
  • Mesh functionality: A radio is a transmitter, receiver, and repeater at the same time – offering safe and uninterrupted signal transmission in non-line-of-sight situations and congested environments
  • 1 to 4 HD encoding channels (4 channels coming soon) on one frequency only
  • Makes use of existing IP infrastructure to enhance networks and can be managed from any access point via a user-friendly GUI without touching the system on the side of the pitch
